Kroil Industrial Lubricants Guide: Precision and High-Temperature Lubrication

Industrial lubrication is not always about heavy machinery or large moving components. Some applications require a lubricant that can work in small, precise mechanisms, while others operate at temperatures where conventional lubricants may not be suitable.

Kroil's Industrial Lubricants category is designed around these more specialized lubrication requirements. The category includes Microil®, a low-viscosity lubricant for precision instruments and small mechanisms, and Pyrolube®, a high-temperature lubricant designed for applications operating at temperatures up to 1359°F (700°C).

What Are Kroil Industrial Lubricants?

Kroil's Industrial Lubricants are designed for applications where the operating conditions call for a more specialized lubrication solution.

Rather than treating every lubrication task the same way, the category addresses two very different requirements: precision lubrication for small mechanisms and long-lasting lubrication in high-temperature environments.

For precision applications, Microil provides low-viscosity lubrication with low evaporation characteristics. For extreme heat, Pyrolube is formulated to provide lubrication at temperatures up to 1359°F (700°C).

Microil® — Precision Instrument Lubricant

Microil® is designed for bearings and mechanisms found in precision instruments and other small mechanical systems.

Its low-viscosity, low-evaporation formula is intended to provide long-lasting lubrication without gumming. Kroil also describes Microil as non-corrosive and temperature-stable, with lubrication performance down to -50°F.

Microil can be used on bearings and mechanisms in gauges, meters, clocks, micrometers, counters, controls, light machinery, office machines and other small mechanisms. The product is also listed for applications in a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, automotive, aviation, electrical, HVAC and mechanical maintenance.

Microil® MC081

The MC081 is the 8 oz drip-can format of Microil.

The drip application makes it suitable when lubricant needs to be placed directly and precisely onto a small mechanism, bearing or other specific lubrication point. This format is particularly practical for maintenance work where controlled application is more useful than broad-area spraying.

Because Microil is intended for precision mechanisms, the goal is not simply to apply as much lubricant as possible. The formulation is designed for applications where a low-viscosity lubricant with low evaporation and non-gumming characteristics is appropriate.

Pyrolube® — High-Temperature Lubricant

The second product in Kroil's Industrial Lubricants category is Pyrolube®, which is designed for lubrication in high-temperature environments.

Kroil specifies Pyrolube for temperatures up to 1359°F (700°C). It leaves a smooth, graphoid-lubricated surface and is designed not to drip or form abrasive particles under the specified conditions. The manufacturer also states that it helps prevent metal-to-metal contact and reduce wear.

Pyrolube is used in applications such as industrial furnaces, high-temperature equipment, kiln cars, conveyor systems, rotary kilns, stokers, baking and drying ovens, gears, chains, bearings and glides.

This makes Pyrolube fundamentally different from Microil. While Microil is intended for small, precision mechanisms, Pyrolube is designed for equipment where extreme heat is the primary lubrication challenge.

Which Kroil Industrial Lubricant Fits the Application?

The choice between these products depends mainly on the operating environment and the type of mechanism being lubricated.

Microil is designed for precision instruments, small mechanisms, bearings and light machinery where a low-viscosity, low-evaporation lubricant is appropriate. The MC081 8 oz drip can provides a controlled way to apply Microil directly to specific lubrication points.

Pyrolube, on the other hand, is intended for high-temperature equipment and applications where conventional lubrication can become difficult because of extreme heat.

In both cases, the application should be considered first. The size and type of mechanism, operating temperature, materials involved and manufacturer's lubrication requirements should all be taken into account before selecting a product.

Why Use Kroil Industrial Lubricants?

Kroil's Industrial Lubricants category focuses on two very different but important maintenance challenges: precision lubrication and extreme-temperature lubrication.

Microil provides a specialized option for small mechanisms and precision equipment, while Pyrolube addresses high-temperature lubrication requirements. This application-focused approach allows the lubricant to be selected according to the actual conditions of the equipment rather than using the same type of product for every maintenance task.

At Factoval, we offer Kroil Microil MC081, providing a practical precision-lubrication option for instruments, small mechanisms, bearings and light machinery where controlled application is required.
