How to choose a pack
| Pack | Gas One part no. | Covers |
|---|---|---|
| 6 cans | CFD-6-6 | Up to 6 fuel holders for one 6-hour service |
| 12 cans | CFD-6-12 | Up to 12 holders for one service, or 6 holders for two |
| 24 cans | Store pack, no Gas One part number | Regular catering, banquets and buffet lines |
All three packs hold the same 6-hour fuel. Count your fuel holders, not your dishes: a full-size chafer often has two holders, while smaller warmers and urns usually take one.
Where chafing fuel is used
- Buffets and catered events with chafing dishes
- Hotel room service and banquet setups
- Beverage urns for coffee and hot water
- Large food setups at parties, fundraisers and community dinners
How to use chafing fuel
- Set the chafer on a stable, heat-safe surface away from anything that can burn, and fill its water pan if it has one.
- Remove the cap, place the can in the fuel holder and light the wick with a long lighter.
- Never move, refill or reach over a lit can, and never leave it unattended.
- When service ends, put out the flame as the label directs, let the can cool completely, then replace the cap to save the remaining fuel.
Frequently asked questions
How long does chafing fuel burn?
Gas One designs this fuel to burn for 6 hours per can. Plan one can per fuel holder for each 6-hour service.
How many cans do I need per chafing dish?
One per fuel holder. A chafer with two holders running for a 6-hour event needs two cans; a longer event needs a fresh can in each holder.
Can you reuse a partly burned can?
Yes. Gas One fits these cans with a resealable cap so they can be used more than once. Let the can cool before you close it.
What is chafing fuel made of?
Gas One describes this fuel as diethylene glycol based. Always read the can label for handling and first-aid information.
