DeoxIT fader grease (CAIG FaderGrease, part DFG-213-8G) comes in an 8 g syringe: a damping grease for conductive-plastic faders, slide pots, switches and other sliding mechanisms. The silicone-based grease restores lost lubrication and adds a smoother, more controlled tactile feel. It has no cleaning action and is not the same product as DeoxIT F-Series FaderLube. Non-flammable.

Overview
DeoxIT FaderGrease (CAIG part DFG-213-8G) is a moving-contact grease for conductive plastic faders and controls, supplied in an 8 g syringe for precise placement. CAIG makes it from silicone grease and additives and describes it as a damping grease: it replenishes lubrication on sliding surfaces and gives faders and pots a heavier, more controlled feel than a liquid lubricant. Shoppers often confuse it with DeoxIT F-Series FaderLube, which is a thin liquid or spray; FaderGrease is the thicker option.
Key features
- 100% DeoxIT FaderGrease DFG-213 (silicone grease with additives); white to light gray
- Damping grease for tactile feel; CAIG lists it as water resistant and wear resistant, with low volatility
- 0% cleaning action; non-flammable; no VOC
- Dielectric strength 325 V/mil (ASTM D149); unworked penetration 170–225 mm/10 (ASTM D217)
- Rated -15°F to 302°F (-26°C to 150°C) on CAIG’s product page
Where to use it
Conductive plastic faders, slide potentiometers, switches and other mechanisms with sliding surfaces, conductive membranes, and metal-to-plastic or metal-to-metal sliding parts where you want extra damping. It is a lubricant for the mechanism, not a treatment for electrical connectors.
How to use
- Turn off and unplug the device.
- If the control is dirty, flush out debris and spilled-drink residue with DeoxIT F5 first, as CAIG directs.
- Once the surfaces are clean, apply a small amount of FaderGrease from the syringe.
- Operate the control through its travel to distribute the grease.
- CAIG suggests treating one control, waiting a few days, and then treating the rest if all is well.
Compatibility and cautions
CAIG lists FaderGrease as compatible with most plastics and elastomers: Excellent on ABS, nylon, polycarbonate, HDPE and PVC, Good on acrylic and polystyrene, and Fair on TPE, rubber and varnish, so test those first. Its SDS lists eye irritation (H320); wash after handling and keep it out of reach of children. CAIG’s data sheet quotes a wider temperature range than its product page; we show the narrower one. SDS: technical documents.
Choosing between FaderGrease and FaderLube
For a light, liquid re-lube, use DeoxIT F100L-L25C (100%, needle) or the DeoxIT F5 spray, which also flushes dirt. Choose FaderGrease when a control feels loose or you want more resistance. For oxidized metal contacts, use DeoxIT D5. The DeoxIT F-Series guide covers fader grease vs fader lube in more detail.

FAQ
Is DeoxIT FaderGrease the same as FaderLube?
No. FaderLube (the F5 spray and F100L liquid) is a thin liquid lubricant; FaderGrease DFG-213 is a silicone-based damping grease that adds tactile feel. Both are for conductive-plastic controls.
Does FaderGrease clean the fader?
No. CAIG rates it at 0% cleaning action, so flush dirty controls with DeoxIT F5 before applying it.
Is DeoxIT FaderGrease conductive?
No. CAIG lists a dielectric strength of 325 V/mil and a volume resistivity of 1.1 × 10¹⁴ ohm-cm, which describes an electrically insulating grease, not a conductive one.
What temperatures can DeoxIT FaderGrease handle?
CAIG's product page lists -15°F to 302°F (-26°C to 150°C).
