Overview

Super Lube 91003 is Super Lube dielectric grease in a 3 oz tube: a non-curing silicone compound that seals, protects and insulates electrical components and connectors and keeps moisture and contaminants out of contact points. The same grease is a vacuum grease with very low vapor pressure and outgassing, used on stopcocks, plug valves, gaskets and vacuum or pressure fittings. It is translucent white, NLGI 2 and NSF H1 registered (#141973).

Key features

  • Dielectric strength 777 V/mil (ASTM D149, 50 mil gap); helps prevent arcing
  • -40°F to 500°F (-40°C to 260°C); no melting point; 0% oil separation
  • Vapor pressure 5 × 10⁻¹⁰ Torr at 25°C; outgassing TML under 1.0% and CVCM under 0.1% (ASTM E595)
  • Water washout under 1%; high resistance to water and chemicals
  • NSF H1, Kosher and Halal; PFAS-free per super-lube.com; made in USA

Where to use it

Spark plug boots and distributor caps, battery cables, electrical assemblies and terminals, cable connections, terminal strips and disconnects, light bulbs, rubber gaskets, glass-to-rubber boundaries, ceramic plug gaskets, control and plug valves, stopcocks, flow meter bearings, and sealing of vacuum, pressure and chemical process equipment. H1 registration also covers food-processing and water-treating equipment.

How to use

  1. Disconnect power before working on electrical connections.
  2. Clean the mating surfaces.
  3. Apply evenly; on connectors, coat the seal, boot and housing so moisture cannot get in.
  4. Assemble and wipe away the excess.

Compatibility and cautions

Compatible with the majority of rubber and plastic compounds, per Super Lube. Dielectric grease is an insulator: it does not improve conductivity and should not replace a clean, tight metal-to-metal connection. It is not a thermal compound either; its thermal conductivity is 0.16 W/m·K, against 2.174 W/m·K for Super Lube 98003 Heat Sink Compound. Read the SDS.

Choosing between 91003 and related products

For battery terminals and connectors that mainly need corrosion protection, Super Lube 82003 Anti-Corrosion & Connector Gel is a thinner NLGI 0 gel. For general silicone lubrication of plastic and rubber parts with added PTFE, use Super Lube 92003 Silicone Lubricating Grease; for O-rings in quantity, Super Lube 93016 O-Ring Silicone Grease. See our dielectric grease collection.

FAQ

What is dielectric grease used for?

It seals and insulates electrical connections against moisture and corrosion: spark plug boots, connectors, battery cables and terminal strips. Super Lube 91003 also works as a vacuum and stopcock grease.

Is dielectric grease conductive?

No. Super Lube 91003 has a dielectric strength of 777 V/mil, which means it insulates. Apply it to seals and housings; the connection itself still relies on clean metal-to-metal contact.

Where do you put dielectric grease on spark plugs?

A thin coat inside the spark plug boot, where it seals against the plug's ceramic insulator, keeps moisture out and makes the boot easier to remove later. Follow your vehicle maker's guidance.

Is dielectric grease the same as silicone grease?

91003 is a silicone grease formulated for dielectric and vacuum service. Super Lube's general silicone grease, 92003, adds PTFE for lubrication and is rated 400 V/mil.

Is Super Lube 91003 food grade?

Yes. It is NSF H1 registered (#141973) for incidental food contact and is Kosher and Halal certified.
