Overview

Super Lube 92003 Silicone Lubricating Grease with Syncolon® is the brand’s silicone grease for parts where plastic, rubber or mixed materials meet: plastic-to-plastic and metal-to-plastic contacts, rubber parts and sealing rings, grommets and control cables. Syncolon (PTFE) micro-powders add friction and wear protection, and Super Lube notes excellent sound-dampening properties, so the grease is also used to quiet sliding and rotating assemblies. It is translucent white and compatible with most plastics and rubbers.

Key features

  • NLGI 2 silicone grease with PTFE micro-powders; 5,000 cSt silicone base oil
  • -40°F to 500°F (-40°C to 260°C); no melting point; 0% oil separation
  • Water washout under 1%; waterproof and seals out moisture
  • Dielectric strength 400 V/mil (CTM 0114)
  • NSF H1 (#141974), Kosher; made in USA

Where to use it

Plastic parts and gears, bushings, sleeves and plain bearings, sealing rings, rubber parts and grommets, locks, control cables, treadmills and exercise equipment, food-processing equipment, sound dampening, and mold release on tools.

How to use

  1. Clean and dry the area to be treated.
  2. Apply with a clean cloth, brush, sponge or finger.
  3. Remove the excess grease.

Compatibility and cautions

Compatible with the majority of rubber and plastic compounds, according to Super Lube. As with any silicone product, keep it away from surfaces that will be painted or bonded. Read the SDS before use.

Choosing between 92003, 21030 and the larger sizes

92003 vs Super Lube 21030 Multi-Purpose Synthetic Grease: both are NLGI 2 PTFE greases with NSF H1 registration, but 21030 is silicone-free, built on synthetic base fluids for metal bearings, chains and chassis points (-45°F to 450°F), while 92003 is silicone-based for plastics, rubber and sound dampening (-40°F to 500°F). The same silicone grease also comes in a 92150 14.1 oz cartridge, a 92016 14.1 oz canister and a 3-pack of 3 oz tubes. Our Super Lube grease guide compares the families.

FAQ

What is silicone grease used for?

Lubricating and protecting plastic and rubber parts: plastic gears, seals, grommets, bushings and control cables, plus sound dampening and moisture sealing. Super Lube 92003 adds PTFE for wear protection.

Is silicone grease better than synthetic grease?

Neither is better overall; they suit different jobs. Silicone grease like 92003 is aimed at plastics and rubber, while 21030 synthetic grease is silicone-free and certified NLGI GC-LB for wheel bearings and chassis points.

Is Super Lube silicone grease safe on plastic?

Super Lube rates it compatible with the majority of rubber and plastic compounds and lists plastic parts, plastic gears and plastic-to-plastic contacts among its uses.

Can I use 92003 as a dielectric grease?

It has a dielectric strength of 400 V/mil and Super Lube says it insulates electrical components. For dedicated connector and spark plug boot work, Super Lube 91003 is rated 777 V/mil.

Is it food grade?

Yes. It is NSF H1 registered (#141974) for incidental food contact and Kosher certified.
