Overview
Super Lube 21030 is the 3 oz tube of Super Lube Multi-Purpose Synthetic Grease with Syncolon®, the brand’s general-purpose grease and the size most home shops, mechanics and makers keep on the bench. Synthetic base fluids carry Syncolon (Super Lube’s PTFE) micro powders, which protect against friction, wear, rust and corrosion. It is an NLGI 2 grease rated -45°F to 450°F (-43°C to 232°C), registered NSF H1 for incidental food contact, and it contains no silicone.
Key features
- NLGI 2 with NLGI GC-LB certification, the category for vehicle wheel bearings and chassis parts
- Dropping point above 550°F (287°C); water washout under 1% (ASTM D1264)
- Passes a 100-hour salt spray test (ASTM B117); dielectric strength 643 V/mil
- Will not melt, separate, evaporate or form gummy deposits
- Silicone-free, so it is safe in paint spraying and finishing areas
- NSF H1 (#096790), Kosher and Halal certified; made in USA
Where to use it
Plain, ball, roller and wheel bearings; cams, slides, valves, conveyors and chains; hubs, axles, shocks, springs, seat tracks and fifth wheels; winches, pulleys, garage doors, lawn mowers, snow blowers, sewing machines, faucets and pool pumps; bicycles, guns and fishing gear. If you maintain a 3D printer, a PTFE grease of this type is a common choice for linear rails and lead screws; check your printer maker’s guide first, since some specify a particular lubricant. See our 3D printer lubricant picks.
How to use
- Clean and dry the area or part.
- Purge any other grease before switching, as Super Lube recommends.
- On bearings, wipe the grease fitting clean, fill the bearing about 1/3 to 1/2 full and do not over-grease; excess grease causes heat.
- Monitor the part, set a regular maintenance interval, and periodically clean and repack bearings with fresh grease.
Compatibility and cautions
Super Lube describes the grease as compatible with most other greases. It is not for use in a pure oxygen environment. Read the SDS before use.
Choosing between 21030 and other Super Lube greases
The same grease is sold as a ½ oz 21010 tube, a 3 oz 21036 cartridge for mini grease guns, a 14.1 oz 41150 cartridge and a 14.1 oz 41160 canister. Buying for several benches or vehicles? The 21030 3-pack keeps spares on hand. If the parts are plastic or rubber, such as plastic gears, sealing rings or anything that squeaks, choose Super Lube 92003 Silicone Lubricating Grease, which is silicone-based and rated -40°F to 500°F (-40°C to 260°C). Our 21030 vs 92003 grease guide goes into detail.

FAQ
What is the difference between Super Lube 21030 and 92003?
21030 is a silicone-free synthetic grease with PTFE for metal bearings, chains and general machinery, rated -45°F to 450°F. 92003 is a silicone grease with PTFE for plastics, rubber and sound dampening, rated -40°F to 500°F. Both are NLGI 2 and NSF H1 registered.
Is Super Lube synthetic grease food grade?
Yes. It is NSF H1 registered (#096790) for incidental food contact and is Kosher and Halal certified.
Can I use Super Lube 21030 on a 3D printer?
A PTFE grease like 21030 is a common choice for linear rails, lead screws and bearings. Super Lube does not publish 3D-printer guidance, so follow your printer maker's maintenance instructions and apply only a thin film.
Is Super Lube grease conductive?
No. It is a dielectric grease with a dielectric strength of 643 V/mil (ASTM D149), and Super Lube lists dielectric applications and battery protection among its uses.
What does NLGI 2 mean?
NLGI grades describe grease consistency, from very fluid 000 to very firm 6. Grade 2 is the medium consistency used for most multi-purpose and bearing greases; 21030 measures 265 to 295 in the ASTM D217 worked penetration test.
