Super Lube 97008 Silicone Lubricating Brake Grease with Syncolon, 8 oz Tube

Super Lube 97008 is a silicone brake grease made for the entire brake assembly, anywhere parts slide or pivot. It is a non-curing silicone compound with Syncolon® (PTFE), NLGI 2, and Super Lube states it is safe for caliper seals and compatible with the majority of rubber and plastic compounds. That matters on slide pins, whose boots and bushings are rubber. It is waterproof, seals out moisture and contaminants, and dampens vibrations between contact points.

Where to use it

Caliper slide pins and pivot points, caliper O-rings, backing plates, self-adjusters, parking brake lubrication points and drum brake systems. Super Lube also notes it can be used to dampen vibration between disc brake pads and caliper pistons.

How to use

1. Clean and dry the parts; remove old grease and rust from slide pins and their bores.
2. Lubricate the caliper slides and pivot points.
3. Apply with a clean cloth, brush, sponge or finger.
4. Remove the excess, and keep all grease off pad friction material and rotor or drum braking surfaces.

Compatibility and cautions

Grease must never reach pad linings, rotors or drums; clean any contamination with brake cleaner before reassembly. Follow the vehicle maker’s brake service procedure and torque specifications, and test the brakes before driving. Read the SDS before use.

Choosing between brake grease and other silicone greases

97008 is the brake-specific package in an 8 oz tube. Super Lube 92003 Silicone Lubricating Grease is the general silicone grease with PTFE for plastics, rubber and sound dampening, and Super Lube 91003 is the dielectric and vacuum grease for electrical connections. For wheel bearings, use a bearing grease such as Super Lube 21030 Multi-Purpose Synthetic Grease, which is NLGI GC-LB certified.
