Overview

Super Lube 93016 is a heavy-consistency O-ring silicone grease in a 400 gram (14.1 oz) canister. Super Lube formulates it for lubricating, sealing and conditioning O-rings and other regulator, vacuum and valve system components. Applied at installation, it helps protect an O-ring from abrasion, pinching or cutting and helps it seat properly. In dynamic pneumatic systems it extends service life, and in vacuum work it acts as a chamber sealant that lowers the leak rate.

Key features

  • NLGI 2 silicone compound (5,000 cSt base oil), translucent white
  • -40°F to 500°F (-40°C to 260°C); no melting point; evaporation loss 0.4%
  • Water washout under 1%; waterproof; heat stable
  • Compatibility chart: excellent with EPDM, nitrile, FKM/Viton, neoprene, natural rubber, butyl, SBR and most plastics; POM (Delrin) and PPS rated good
  • NSF H1 (#156444), Kosher; PFAS-free per super-lube.com; made in USA

Where to use it

Static and dynamic O-rings, vacuum chambers and chamber seals, valves and pressure plug valves, pneumatic systems, water softener and faucet valves, pool pump and filter seals, rubber gaskets, weather stripping and food-processing equipment.

How to use

  1. Clean the mating surfaces and the O-ring groove.
  2. Apply evenly to the O-ring and surfaces.
  3. Do not mix with other greases.

Compatibility and cautions

Not compatible with silicone rubber (VMQ, MQ, FMQ, PMQ, VMFQ). Super Lube says not to mix it with other greases. The data sheet lists it as safe in potable water; NSF H1 covers incidental food contact and is not an NSF/ANSI 61 drinking-water certification, so follow any lubricant your filter or valve maker specifies. Read the SDS.

Choosing between O-ring grease and liquid O-ring lubricant

93016 gives a thick film that stays on large, vertical or vacuum seals. For small O-rings and fast assembly, the liquid Super Lube 56204 O-Ring Silicone Lubricant (also sold as a 3-pack) flows into grooves more easily. For electrical seals, Super Lube 91003 Silicone Dielectric & Vacuum Grease adds 777 V/mil dielectric strength. Browse our O-ring lubricant collection.

FAQ

Can you use Vaseline on O-rings?

Petroleum jelly is a petroleum product, and EPDM rubber, common in plumbing and water-filter O-rings, is generally not recommended with petroleum-based lubricants. Super Lube rates 93016 excellent with EPDM, nitrile and Viton.

Is it safe for pool filter O-rings?

Super Lube lists pool pump and filter seals among its typical applications. Follow your pool equipment maker's recommendation if it names a specific lubricant.

Can I use 93016 as a vacuum grease?

Yes. Super Lube lists vacuum and chamber sealing as an application; the grease fills the gland's surface gaps and lowers elastomer permeation to reduce the leak rate.

Is Super Lube O-ring grease food grade?

Yes. It is NSF H1 registered (#156444) for incidental food contact and Kosher certified.
