Overview
The Gas One butane canisters 8 pack contains eight GAS-1 canisters at 8 oz (227 g) each, 64 oz (about 1.8 kg) of butane in all. It sits between the 4-pack and the 12-pack: enough fuel for a longer trip or a group that cooks every day of a camp, without giving storage space to a full dozen. For planning, Gas One’s GS-3000 burns up to 185 g of butane per hour at its 9,000 BTU/hr maximum, so eight canisters give roughly ten hours of full-flame cooking on that stove.
Key features
- Eight canisters, 8 oz (227 g) x 8, Gas One part number GAS-1
- UL listed, according to Gas One’s wholesale catalog
- Vapor-withdrawal canister with a notched collar for stoves built for 8 oz butane cartridges
- Specified by Gas One for its GS-3000 portable butane stove
- Non-refillable
Where to use it
Week-long camping, scout and group camps, overland and RV trips (cook outside the vehicle, never in it), hunting or fishing camps, and backyard cooks who use a portable burner through the season.
How to use
- Pack canisters upright and protected from knocks; Gas One warns against strong shock or impact.
- At camp, set the stove on a stable, level, heat-resistant surface outdoors. The GS-3000 manual asks for 16 inches of clearance at the sides and 63 inches above to anything combustible.
- Install a canister with the knob off and the stove cool: align the notch, lock it in, close the cover, and leak-check with soapy water.
- Use a pan no wider than your stove allows (10.5 inches on the GS-3000); an oversized pan can cover the canister compartment and overheat the canister.
- When finished, turn the stove off, let it cool for 10 to 15 minutes, and remove the canister before packing up.
Compatibility and cautions
These canisters fit appliances designed for this cartridge type; check your stove’s manual. Never store or leave canisters where they can exceed 120°F (49°C) or sit in direct sunlight, such as a closed vehicle. At home, Gas One’s manual says to store butane outdoors in a well-ventilated area out of children’s reach, not in a building or garage. Never use a butane stove inside a tent, camper, car or home, and never dispose of empty canisters in a fire.
Free standard shipping to NJ, NY, PA, DE, MD and DC; other contiguous states pay their zone’s flat rate. Ground shipping only, contiguous US only (no AK, HI, PR, APO/FPO or P.O. boxes), and no change-of-mind returns on fuel. See the return and refund policy.
Choosing between pack sizes
For a single weekend, the 4-pack is usually enough; for regular weekly use or food service, the Gas One butane fuel canisters 12 pack or the 24-pack case is the larger option; a single 8 oz canister covers a spare. Browse all Gas One products or read our butane fuel guide.

FAQ
How much butane is in the 8-pack?
Eight 8 oz (227 g) Gas One GAS-1 canisters, or 64 oz of butane in total.
Can I keep butane canisters in my car or RV?
Not for storage. Gas One's manual says never to store butane above 120°F (49°C), in direct sunlight or in an enclosed area, and a parked vehicle can get hotter than that.
Can I use a butane stove inside a camper or tent?
No. Gas One warns that its butane stove can produce carbon monoxide and must never be used in an enclosed space such as a camper, tent, car or home.
Are these butane canisters universal?
No canister fits every appliance. These fit stoves and appliances designed for 8 oz butane cartridges with a notched collar; check your appliance manual before buying.
