GasOne Butane Fuel Canisters, 8 oz (Pack of 24)

The Gas One butane fuel canisters 24 pack is our case size: two Gas One 12-packs, 24 GAS-1 canisters at 8 oz (227 g) each and 192 oz of butane in all. At $1.92 a can it is the lowest cost per can of any GasOne pack we sell, and it ships free to New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland and Washington, D.C. It suits caterers and event cooks running several burners at once, outdoor market and festival stands, and food businesses that restock butane every week.

What is in the case

• 24 Gas One GAS-1 canisters, 8 oz (227 g) each, packed as two 12-packs
• UL listed, per Gas One; non-refillable
• Vapor-withdrawal design: the notched collar aligns with the regulator so the stove draws vapor only
• The canister Gas One specifies for its GS-3000 stove (Gas One’s current product page says “For Outdoor Use Only”)

On Gas One’s GS-3000, rated at up to 185 g of butane an hour, the case adds up to about 30 hours at full flame (our arithmetic), and more at a simmer.

Check your storage limit first

Twenty-four canisters is more than some settings may keep. In New York City, FDNY rules allow no more than 12 portable LPG containers, butane included, to be used and stored in a restaurant, so an NYC restaurant should order the Gas One butane 12-pack instead, and an NYC home may store four. Elsewhere your local fire code governs; Gas One’s GS-3000 manual cites a model-code limit of 24 canisters of 10 oz or less. At home, the manual says to store butane outdoors in a ventilated area, not in a building or garage. Never store canisters above 120°F (49°C).

How to use

1. Use stoves designed for 8 oz butane cartridges and approved for your setting.
2. Give each stove ventilation and clearance; Gas One lists 16 inches at the sides and 63 inches above to combustible materials for the GS-3000.
3. Change canisters with the stove off and cool, away from other burners or open flames.
4. Leak-test each new canister with soapy water, never a flame.
5. After service, remove the canisters from the stoves and return them to storage.
