Overview
Kroil KL081 is the 8 oz size of Kroil Original Penetrant liquid from Kano Laboratories. Shoppers often call it the Kroil 8 oz can, but Kano packs it in a drip bottle so you can put the oil exactly where it is needed: on a seized set screw, a rusted thread, a frozen hinge pin or a stuck firearm part. The liquid wicks by capillary action into tight clearances, loosens the corrosion bond and leaves a thin film that lubricates and displaces moisture.
Key features
- Kroil Original Penetrant liquid in an 8 oz drip bottle
- Penetrates the smallest spaces, threads and openings (Kano)
- NSF Nonfood Compounds Program listed, category H2, registration #165745
- Slightly reddish; flash point 132°F (55.5°C); 50-state VOC compliant
- Made in the U.S.A. (portions of packaging imported)
Where to use it
Bench and toolbox jobs: frozen nuts and bolts, small corroded fasteners, locks, hinges and pins, firearms, small engine parts, plumbing fixtures and valve stems. Kano notes liquid Kroil has a lower vapor pressure than the aerosol and suits ventilated indoor shops, and drops keep oil off nearby surfaces.
How to use
- Clear loose rust and dirt so the oil reaches the threads.
- Run a few drops along the threads and into the joint.
- Wait 15 to 30 minutes; for long-rusted parts, add more and leave it overnight.
- Turn the part with steady pressure while it is still wet. Working it back and forth often helps, per Kano.
Compatibility and cautions
Kroil will not attack metal and is generally safe on most plastics and painted surfaces when used as directed; long contact can soften or swell some plastics and rubber. On firearms, Kano warns it can creep under and lift bluing that is already damaged, so wipe off excess with a dry cloth. The SDS lists a flammable liquid and vapor that irritates skin and eyes, may cause an allergic skin reaction, and is an aspiration hazard if swallowed. Wear gloves and eye protection and read the SDS. Ground shipping only, contiguous US (shipping policy).
Choosing between the drip bottle and other Kroil formats
Buying for a shop? The Kroil KL011 1 gallon can refills this bottle and handles soaking. For spraying overhead or into hard-to-see spots, choose an aerosol: AeroKroil KS102 (10 oz), KS132 (13 oz) or KS162 (16.5 oz). If you need a precision oil rather than a penetrant, see Kroil Microil.
