AeroKroil KS162 is Kano Laboratories’ Kroil Original Penetrant in a 16.5 oz aerosol, the largest AeroKroil can. It creeps into rusted threads and tight joints to help free frozen nuts, bolts, shafts and pulleys, then leaves a lubricating film. Kano says the aerosol holds the same product as liquid Kroil. Flammable aerosol, ground shipping only.

Overview
AeroKroil is the aerosol form of Kroil Original Penetrant from Kano Laboratories in Nashville, Tennessee, and KS162 is its 16.5 oz can. Kano now labels it Kroil Original Penetrant aerosol (formerly AeroKroil), and its FAQ says the exact same product is in the liquid and aerosol cans. The petroleum-based oil works by capillary action: it creeps into the smallest spaces, threads and openings around corroded parts, displaces moisture and leaves a thin lubricating film so frozen parts turn with less force.
Key features
- Penetrates the smallest spaces, threads and openings (Kano)
- Petroleum distillates and aliphatic hydrocarbon with a carbon dioxide propellant, per the SDS
- Slightly reddish; flash point 132°F (55.5°C)
- Will not attack or damage metal; 50-state VOC compliant
- Made in the U.S.A. (portions of packaging imported)
Where to use it
Frozen nuts and bolts, corroded fasteners, shafts, pulleys, bearings and bearing mounts, hinges, chains, locks, valves and general equipment disassembly. Kano lists automotive, aviation, farm, marine, HVAC, utility and industrial maintenance among Kroil’s industries. The spray reaches overhead and confined spots where a drip bottle is awkward.
How to use
- Brush away loose rust and debris so the oil can reach the threads.
- Spray the threads and the gap between the fastener and the mating surface.
- Let it soak: Kano says Kroil starts to penetrate in 15 to 30 minutes; allow several hours or overnight for heavy corrosion.
- Apply a second coat, then turn the fastener while it is still wet, using steady pressure rather than sudden impact.
- If it will not move, repeat the soak instead of adding force.
Compatibility and cautions
Kroil is safe on steel, iron, aluminum, brass, copper and most alloys, and generally on most plastics and painted surfaces when used as directed; prolonged contact can soften or swell some plastics and rubber. Keep it off brake pads, rotors and other friction surfaces, and spray exhaust parts only when cool. The SDS lists a flammable aerosol that may burst if heated, skin and serious eye irritation, a possible allergic skin reaction and an aspiration hazard. Ventilate well, keep it away from flames, store below 120°F, and read the label and SDS. Ground shipping only, contiguous US (shipping policy).

FAQ
What is AeroKroil?
AeroKroil is the aerosol version of Kroil Original Penetrant by Kano Laboratories. Kano now calls it Kroil Original Penetrant aerosol and says the liquid and aerosol cans contain the same product.
How long should AeroKroil sit before I try the bolt?
Kano says Kroil starts to penetrate within 15 to 30 minutes. For heavily corroded parts, let it soak several hours or overnight and apply a second coat before attempting removal.
Is AeroKroil flammable?
Yes. The SDS classifies it as a flammable aerosol in a pressurized container, with a flash point of 132°F (55.5°C). Keep it away from heat, sparks and open flames and store it below 120°F.
Is Kroil the same as WD-40?
No. Kroil is a dedicated penetrating oil for freeing seized, corroded parts, while the original WD-40 product is marketed as a multi-use water displacer and light lubricant.
