AeroKroil KS132 is a 13 oz aerosol of Kroil Original Penetrant by Kano Laboratories. Overview

AeroKroil 13 oz (Kano SKU KS132) is the mid-size can of Kroil Original Penetrant aerosol, formerly sold simply as AeroKroil. According to Kano, it holds the same petroleum-based penetrant as liquid Kroil, in a can that sits between the 10 oz and 16.5 oz sizes. Spray it on a frozen nut, bolt or shaft and the oil wicks into the corrosion bond, displaces moisture and lubricates, so the part can be moved with less force.

Key features

  • Kroil Original Penetrant in a standard 13 oz aerosol can
  • Penetrates quickly and deeply into the smallest threads and openings (Kano)
  • Helps remove rust and carbon deposits; will not attack or damage metal
  • Carbon dioxide propellant; flash point 132°F (55.5°C) per the SDS
  • 50-state VOC compliant; made in the U.S.A. (portions of packaging imported)

Where to use it

Seized exhaust and suspension hardware on a cool vehicle, rusted lug nuts, frozen pulleys and shafts, bearing mounts, conveyor and pump hardware, marine fittings and farm equipment. Kano notes the aerosol is preferred for overhead components and tight engine-bay spaces where a liquid is hard to aim.

How to use

  1. Clear loose rust and dirt from around the fastener head.
  2. Spray Kroil onto the threads and into the joint.
  3. Wait at least 15 minutes for light corrosion; for heavy rust, soak several hours or overnight and re-apply.
  4. Turn the fastener while it is still wet, with steady force. Working it back and forth can help break the bond, per Kano.

Compatibility and cautions

Kroil is safe on metals and generally on most plastics and painted surfaces when used as directed, but long contact may soften or swell some plastics and rubber, and it can creep under gun bluing that is already damaged. Do not spray brake friction surfaces. Per the SDS, it is a flammable aerosol in a pressurized container that may burst if heated; it can irritate skin and eyes, may cause an allergic skin reaction, and is an aspiration hazard if swallowed. Ventilate, wear gloves and eye protection, and read the label and SDS. Ships by ground only within the contiguous US (shipping policy).

Choosing between KS132 and other Kroil cans

The Kroil KS132ST with SprayTech is also 13 oz but dispenses from any angle, even upside down; note that its own SDS describes a different, colorless formula. For more oil per can, choose AeroKroil KS162 (16.5 oz); for a lighter can, AeroKroil KS102 (10 oz). For a silicone-boosted finish, see SiliKroil SK102, and for soaking parts, the Kroil KL011 1 gallon can.

FAQ

What is the difference between Kroil KS132 and KS132ST?

Both are 13 oz aerosols. KS132 is standard AeroKroil with a conventional valve; KS132ST uses SprayTech, which Kano says dispenses from any angle, even upside down. The KS132ST SDS describes a colorless formula that differs from the standard AeroKroil SDS.

Is Kroil safe on rubber and plastic?

Kano says Kroil is generally safe on most plastics and painted surfaces when used as directed, but prolonged contact can soften or swell some plastics and rubber. For rubber seals and plastic parts, Kano recommends SiliKroil or Kroil Clear.

Does the 13 oz AeroKroil contain the same oil as liquid Kroil?

Yes. Kano's FAQ says the exact same product is in all Kroil Original Penetrant liquid and aerosol cans.
