Overview
The GasOne butane fuel 4 pack bundles four Gas One GAS-1 canisters, 8 oz (227 g) x 4, or 32 oz (908 g) of butane in total, for people who cook on a portable butane stove a few times a season. Four cans give you about five hours at full flame on a 9,000 BTU/hr stove like Gas One’s GS-3000 (based on its 185 g/h rating), and more when you simmer, without the storage question that comes with a dozen.
Key features
- Four canisters: 8 oz (227 g) x 4, Gas One part number GAS-1
- UL listed canisters, per Gas One’s catalog
- Notched collar designed for vapor withdrawal; locks into stoves built for this cartridge style
- The fuel Gas One lists for its portable butane stoves and for its dual-fuel stoves on butane
- Non-refillable, single-use canisters
Where to use it
A camping weekend, a run of tailgates, cookouts at the park, or a kit set aside for cooking outdoors during a power outage. Keep in mind that Gas One’s GS-3000 manual rules out household use and its current product page says “For Outdoor Use Only.” Never cook with it inside a home. In New York City, the Fire Code allows at most four butane containers per home, so a 4-pack is the limit there.
How to use
- Check that your stove takes 8 oz butane cartridges with a notched collar.
- Load one canister at a time with the stove off and cool: align the notch with the regulator guide, lock it in and close the compartment cover.
- Leak-test each new canister with soapy water, never with a flame.
- Swap canisters only after the stove has cooled and away from other flames or burners.
- Between trips, take the canister out of the stove and store the cans upright, away from heat and out of children’s reach.
Compatibility and cautions
Gas One’s GS-3000 manual is specific about home storage: remove the canister from the stove and store butane outdoors in a well-ventilated area, out of the reach of children, not in a building, garage or other enclosed area, and never above 120°F (49°C) or in direct sunlight. Do not run the stove below 32°F, never use it in a tent, camper, car or home (carbon monoxide), and never put empty canisters in a fire.
This pack ships free to NJ, NY, PA, DE, MD and DC; other contiguous states pay their zone’s flat rate. It ships by ground only to the contiguous US (no AK, HI, PR, APO/FPO or P.O. boxes) and cannot be returned for a change of mind; damaged or wrong items must be reported within 7 days with photos. See our shipping policy.
Choosing between pack sizes
Need only a spare? Buy a single Gas One 8 oz butane canister. Planning a longer trip or cooking for a group? The 8-pack doubles the fuel, the 12-pack suits weekly use and food service, and the 24-pack case has the lowest cost per can. Read the GasOne butane fuel guide for more on choosing and storing butane.

FAQ
How many canisters are in the GasOne butane 4 pack?
Four Gas One GAS-1 canisters at 8 oz (227 g) each, so 8 oz x 4, or 32 oz of butane in total.
How long will four butane canisters last?
On a 9,000 BTU/hr stove such as Gas One's GS-3000, rated at 185 g/h at maximum, four 227 g canisters give roughly five hours at full flame. Simmering stretches that.
Do butane canisters work in cold weather?
Not below freezing on this type of stove. Gas One's GS-3000 manual says not to operate the stove below 32°F and lists a temperature under 32°F as a cause of no gas flow.
Where should I store spare butane canisters at home?
Gas One's manual says to remove the canister from the stove and store butane outdoors in a well-ventilated area out of children's reach, not in a building, garage or other enclosed area, and never above 120°F (49°C).
