DeoxIT D100L-16BX is a 1.6 mL mini-brush bottle of 100% DeoxIT D100L contact treatment. The small brush paints solvent-free DeoxIT onto easy-to-reach metal contacts, about 100 strokes per bottle, to dissolve oxidation and leave a protective, lubricating film without overspray. Overview

DeoxIT D100L-16BX is the mini-brush version of DeoxIT D100L (CAIG also calls it the micro brush): 1.6 mL of 100% D-Series contact treatment with a small brush built into the cap. It is meant for contacts and connectors that are easily accessible, where you want to paint DeoxIT exactly where it is needed rather than spray it. With no solvent, there is no flushing action and nothing to evaporate, so the full-strength treatment stays on the metal.

Key features

  • 100% DeoxIT D100L, non-flammable, 0% VOC
  • About 100 brush strokes of 10 mm each, per CAIG
  • Approximately 20% chemical deoxidizing action; light red liquid
  • D100L concentrate: 30.9 cSt at 40°C and 341 V/mil dielectric strength (CAIG Quick Specs)
  • Rated -29°F to 400°F (-34°C to 200°C); RoHS compliant

Where to use it

Good fits are the one-off repair and the small kit: battery contacts in remotes and rechargeable devices, light bulb contacts, and audio/video plugs and jacks. CAIG lists audio/video, computer, communication, marine, avionics, medical, security and automotive electrical equipment among DeoxIT’s uses.

How to use

  1. Turn the device off and unplug it or remove the batteries.
  2. Brush a small amount onto the metal contact.
  3. Operate or reseat the part, wait a few minutes and wipe off lifted oxidation with a lint-free swab.
  4. Brush on a second thin coat and remove any excess.
  5. Wait two minutes before powering on.

Compatibility and cautions

CAIG calls the formula safe on plastics, with Excellent ratings on ABS, nylon, polycarbonate and PVC. Test acrylic and polystyrene first, keep it off rubber and varnish, and watch for crazing on stressed acrylic, ABS or polycarbonate. Per the SDS, the liquid is non-flammable and causes eye irritation (H320). Find the SDS on our technical documents page.

Choosing between the mini-brush and other DeoxIT formats

The mini-brush is the smallest D100L format we stock. For more than a few jobs, the D100L-2DB brush bottle holds 7.4 mL (about 500 strokes) and the D100L-25C needle dispenser holds 25 mL (about 1,250 drops). The D100L-2C squeeze tube gives about 50 drops. For flushing dirt out of switches, use the DeoxIT D5 spray. Not sure which DeoxIT fits? Read what DeoxIT is used for.

FAQ

How many uses does DeoxIT D100L-16BX have?

CAIG rates the 1.6 mL bottle at about 100 brush strokes, each about 10 mm long.

What does green or black discoloration after using DeoxIT mean?

CAIG says it indicates dissolved oxidation from a severely oxidized surface, which can show up over a few days. Clean the contact and treat it again.

How long should I wait before turning equipment back on?

CAIG's directions say to wait two minutes after applying DeoxIT before powering up.

Mini-brush or 7.4 mL brush?

Both hold the same 100% D100L. The 1.6 mL mini-brush suits a single repair or a small kit; the 7.4 mL D100L-2DB makes more sense if you service contacts regularly.
