Overview

Super Lube 91110 is a general-purpose silicone spray lubricant, which Super Lube calls Silicone Aerosol, designed mainly to reduce friction in non-load-bearing mechanical assemblies: parts that slide, bind or squeak rather than carry heavy loads. It leaves a clear, non-drying film. Super Lube says the silicone base is safe on rubber, has high dielectric capabilities and protects well against rust and corrosion.

Key features

  • Clear, non-drying silicone film
  • -40°F to 392°F (-40°C to 200°C)
  • Safe on rubber and vinyl; helps keep doors, locks and windows from freezing, binding and squeaking
  • Dielectric; corrosion inhibitor; long lasting
  • Kosher and Halal certified; made in USA

Where to use it

O-rings, rubber gaskets and grommets; weather stripping on doors, trunks and windows; door, lock and window mechanisms; treadmills and exercise equipment; tools; high-speed machinery; electronic equipment; and as a mold release.

How to use

  1. Work in a well-ventilated area.
  2. Wipe clean the area to be sprayed.
  3. Shake the can before and during use.
  4. Hold the can about 8 inches from the surface and spray a light, even coat; use the extension tube for pinpoint spots.

Compatibility and cautions

Safe on rubber, but use caution on plastics and finished surfaces: Super Lube warns the spray may negatively affect painted or lacquered finishes, so mask nearby paint and test plastics first. Silicone overspray makes floors slippery and can interfere with later painting. The SDS lists an extremely flammable aerosol that may burst if heated; it causes serious eye and skin irritation, may cause drowsiness or dizziness, and may be fatal if swallowed and it enters the airways. A California Proposition 65 warning applies (details). Ground shipping only, within the contiguous U.S.; not returnable for a change of mind.

Choosing between 91110 and other Super Lube sprays

Want a dry, non-oily film that will not collect dust on locks, slides or fabric? Choose Super Lube 11016 Dri-Film. Need a grease film on loaded bearings, chains and hinges? Choose the Super Lube 31110 Multi-Purpose aerosol. Prefer liquid silicone without propellant? Use Super Lube 56104 Silicone Oil, or 56204 O-Ring Silicone Lubricant for O-rings. The Super Lube aerosol guide compares the sprays.

FAQ

Is silicone spray safe on rubber?

Yes. Super Lube states 91110 is safe to use on rubber and vinyl, and lists O-rings, gaskets, grommets and weather stripping among its uses. Use caution on plastics and painted finishes.

What is the difference between silicone spray and a dry PTFE spray?

Silicone spray leaves a clear, non-drying film suited to rubber and sliding parts. A dry PTFE spray such as Super Lube 11016 Dri-Film dries to a solid film that does not attract dust.

Does silicone lubricant prevent rust?

Super Lube says the silicone base protects well against rust and corrosion. For long-term protection of bare metal in storage, Super Lube 83110 Metal Protectant is the dedicated rust inhibitor.

Can I use it on car weather stripping?

Yes. Weather stripping and door, lock and window mechanisms are among the uses Super Lube lists. Keep overspray off paint and glass, and wipe up any excess.
